Is it possible for a graduate in the field of Computer Sciences to move into SAP Consulting?

Many people are always gripped with a question as to whether a computer science graduate can move into the field of SAP Consulting. There is always a misconception / myth associated with SAP consulting. Seeing the number of fields which it has that is sales, distribution, production, supply chain etc, it is presumed that mostly non IT – graduates would be successful in this field.

As has been pointed out in of the earlier posts, SAP has two domains / modules – Technical and Functional. One doesn’t need to fulfill any prerequisite criteria to be successful in the field of SAP consulting. A computer graduate would be able to enter the market through the technical domain. He would be able to position himself strongly in this domain. For this he would have to list the various jobs that have been put out by various IT and consulting firms across the world and then select the best one.

After spending a couple of years in the technical domain, the computer science graduate would be able to move to a senior level in this field. He could also move to the functional domain by gaining some expertise in a certain business area and thus learn its practices and processes.

Therefore we again would stress on the fact that don’t make your judgements regarding SAP courses by hearsay or just talking to people. Read different articles, talk to experts, students and see the market conditions and then make an informed decision.
